Try to establish rapport and find out about the students' needs and individual proficiency. Either use a questionnaire or a spoken activity that engages the whole class.
Use warmers such as hangman and tongue twisters to get the students motivated.
When students are at varying levels, try using different materials or use the same material but choose different tasks. Pairing stronger students with weaker ones may help.
Try to efficiently manage larger classes. Worksheets, choral repetition for drilling, and group work are effective methods.
Stick to English and avoid the use of other languages in class. Be mindful of the level of the activities and make sure the instructions are clear.
Try role-playing or other pair work for students who are reluctant.
