Unit 14 discusses course books and lesson materials. Although course books are very helpful, especially for a new teacher, experienced teachers should find ways to supplement lessons to keep the class interesting and relevant. Both authentic and non-authentic reading materials can be used as well as visual aids and games. Authentic reading material can be too difficult but can also be entertaining. Course books are especially helpful in the study phase for fill in the gap activities but may not have enough or appropriate games and activities for the activate stage.
