There are four basic skills in any language, receptive skills -reading and listening, and productive skills: speaking and writing.
*We can divide the reason and motives for reading and listening into two fairly wide-ranging categories:
- For a purpose
- For entertainment
*Readers and listeners employ a number of specificialist skills when reading or listening and their understanding of the context will depend on their expertise in these areas:
- Predictive skills
- Specific information-scanning
- General idea - skimming
- Detailed information
- Deduction from context
*There are many ways of approaching language difficulty
- Pre teaching vocabulary
- Careful selection of texts
* I have learnt from this lesson: Reading and listening skills are equally important so teacher should try to incorporate all of them in to the lessons. If the teacher can get the students motivated and engaged in the task, there is a much greater possibility that they will read and listen with real enthusiasm.
