Authentic material is a great way to get the students motivated to learn the lesson. Using a newspaper makes gets the attention of the students by providing real life situations. A newspaper story creates curiosity and real interest to learn. Reading from the sports section and learning the message has been a successful strategy in my classroom. Special if the sport is interesting to the student. Finding a relevant authentic material can make a big difference when keeping the students engaged and interested.
