Unit 7 focuses on teaching receptive skills giving a brief introduction into both receptive (reading and listening) and productive skills (writing and speech) with the focus in this particular unit being on the receptive skills of reading and listening. The unit goes o to cover the reasons for reading and listening, how we read and listen, problems often associated with teaching of these skills and offers guidance as to how these problems can be overcome. The unit goes on to give example of a "patchwork" styled lesson outlining what a typical receptive skills lesson would look like as well offering sample materials for said lesson.
From a personal point of view the unit has helped reinforce lesson planning and how to structure lesson phases and activities to use within each phase.
