To me, this unit was one of the more interesting units because I have had first hand experience with the content taught in this unit. When I was in Asia, I worked mainly with young children to adolescents in monolingual classrooms. I was able to connect my experiences with teaching there with the content taught in this unit. I was able to see differences in teaching beginning all the way to advanced students, and even participated in teaching "business" English to adults. These English lessons were specific to the clients and their needs, specifically buying and selling terms and clothing terms for the women and guiding terms for the young men. The women of this particular village made their money by selling handmade goods to tourists. They highly benefited from learned language specific to clothing and phrases such as "Would you like to buy a scarf?" The men would sometimes guide tourists on hikes. They needed to know vocabulary such as "be careful," "watch out," and "just up here." Both also needed to be able to communicate with customers about the prices of their goods or services.
