In Unit 4, Teaching New Language, we are taught different techniques for helping an English learner comprehend new vocabulary, language structure, and grammar. More specifically, we are shown that each phase (Engage, Study, and Activate) has specific activities that suit the phase more appropriately than others. Utilizing these techniques correctly, will increase a student’s ability to adapt and comprehend the new rules, words, and structures of the English language.
In conclusion, a teacher must pay special attention to the components of their lesson plan...are my activity’s properly planned? Are my activities suitable to the learning phase we are currently engaged in? And are my methods working effectively? These are all questions a teacher must ask his/herself when teaching a new language.
