"Unit 1, Teachers and Learners" described the different obstacles and qualities of a student that a teacher will experience throughout his or her career.
In this unit, I was taught that there are roughly six different levels of students an English teacher can expect: Beginners, Elementary, Low/Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate, and Advanced. Each level of students has their own specific issues to overcome and must be treated differently. Furthermore, an English teacher should expect different age groups to present their own unique sets of: motivations, objectives, and issues when trying to learn English.
In sum, a good teacher must be privy to all these factors and must also be willing to put his or her own passion for teaching second to a student’s learning and educational needs.
