The main idea of this unit is to show the ways in which a teacher will want to go about teaching a new language, specifically what aspects are important to teach. A student does not need to know the origin of an English word being rooted, for example, in Greek. Instead, they just need to know the word as used in modern English. I feel this is very important, as it avoids overburdening the student with information that is going provide little, if any, aid in their learning of English.
