I am so grateful for the advice that was given in this lesson! I am new to teaching and I really appreciate hearing the pros and cons of using course books. I think I will find the course books to be a helpful place to start, but now know that I have the freedom to change things up as I get to know the students in my class and their needs. I will also be on guard against getting stuck in laziness, lack of creativity, and predictability that can happen with using the course books exclusively.
