This unit is very useful for lesson plan examples that focus on the receptive language skills of reading and listening. The unit covered strategies for choosing varied subjects to motivate all students that have different interests and to vary the type of material as well. It also mentioned that pre-teaching vocabulary from text or listening exercises is a good idea but not to pre-teach too much as students must be able to deduce some language from the context of the text or conversation. The lesson plans had a clear progression, where the engage and study phases naturally flowed into the activate activities.
