If a student feels comfortable with new vocabulary they will be able to express themselves and thus have a broader access to jobs and connections with their new language skills. There is no one way to teach vocab but there are definitely factors to consider when teaching new words such as context and when the word should be used. It is not so simple as to just give a definition and move on, it can also be helpful for students to see how it is use in every day conversation, how it is spelled and how it can change the meaning of other words in a sentence. word gap fills, word searches and matching games are great ways to see if a definition is understood.
