This unit taught me about working with students based on their language background. It helped me realize that it is not the end of the world if students use their native language, but they will improve their English ability and fluency much more if they are comfortable speaking English in the classroom. This can be accomplished by helping the students have fun, being sensitive to culture, and giving opportunities to all. Teaching a multilingual class can actually be beneficial, as having English as the only common language will help motivate students to use English.
