There are many different types of lesson planning methods and often times it will end up being a combination of methods that can be used in one given lesson plan. The idea of a lesson plan always being linear isn't always realistic but it is generally a good idea to start with something to engage the student such as a video or audio clip related to the lesson topic that gets students interested and relates to the topic, it is important to ask lots of questions and try to engage as many students as possible before introducing the days topic which is the study phase which can take the form of more technical study such as work sheets or reading. lessons should be rounded out with more talking and encouraging students to use new and old information with less focus on correction and accuracy then just talking. no matter if the lesson follows a linear plan it is important to be positive and keep students engaged and teacher talk time down except in the study phase where topics are introduced.
