Giving intonation to our speech will improve it in a way we never imagined.
It is true that students find pronunciation difficult due to the several sounds each vowel has in English, but using the phonemic symbols will help them to identify each sound and not only the vowels but the consonant.
One problem I have found when teaching in a Spanish native speaking country is that we do not have the /th/ sound and many of my students pronounce it as /t/ or /f/. I explain to them that since it is a new sound we should work together to make it sound more natural and we made it.
This unit helped me a lot to understand the stress and intonation. Now I will be even more able to teach in a very easy way the phonemic symbols, stress, and intonation.
