This unit covers tips and methodologies for teaching special groups. It provides information and suggestions for different language levels and how to prepare for any problems that may arise. You want to make sure you understand the English level your students are at in order to effectively teach them English. A lesson plan for teaching children is going to be completely different than a lesson plan for teaching adults. With children, you want to be sure to speak slowly and clearly, and not correct them constantly. You also have to be aware that you, the teacher, are in the position of "In Loco Parentis" and uphold all of the responsibility that entails.
Teaching business English doesn't require you to know everything about the business. You will, however, want to understand your students needs, for example, if they are needing to prepare a presentation or document. How you plan your lessons will be determined by some of those needs presented in the beginning.
For all ages and levels, it is important to always remain encouraging and keep the lessons as clear and fun as you can. We want to motivate our students to be the best English speakers they can be.
