Formal and informal speech need to be explained in great length to students who are not native speakers because sometimes it could come across as rude if not paid attention too or sentence not structured in an appropriate way, this is not their fault because they could be doing a direct translation of their mother tongue with no intentions to insult or be rude to anyone. This will be a great lesson for teaching adult students especially those who are doing business English as they need to be aware of such things as their intention is to be around native speakers. I found this unit really helpful because I prefer teaching adult students and want to make a great impact in their confidence and language abilities. I will need a careful study of this unit and more material on the subject because I really enjoyed doing it and feel I need be to increase my confidence.
