This unit was very short and concise, which I suppose is a good sign. It goes over the past simple, continuous, perfect, and perfect continuous tenses: their usage and form. I remember studying different tenses in grade school simply to learn their names and how they are used, and this brought me back. However, as a child I hardly paid attention to these things, as native speakers can use their language perfectly well without knowing the nuances of grammar. I am glad I will now have a more solid grasp on the many tenses of this language, which are usually one of the hardest things for foreigners to learn. Reading about the past perfect (and present perfect from the earlier lesson), I actually see similarities to verb aspect in Russian, which could help me explain these concepts to Russian speakers. I also appreciate practicing writing example sentences, something I will need to do a lot as a teacher.
