In this unit we have covered information regarding class management. We learnt that it is important that the teacher establishes rapport with the students in order to not only maintain discipline and encourage student participation, but also to inspire confidence in students. Moreover, it is also important that the teacher has the flexibilty to change his/her role in the classroom in order to achieve a better management of the class. Among the aspects that should be considered when managing a classroom are the following: eye contact,gesture and voice; grouping students, and classroom arrangement. From this unit I have learnt that in order to not only inspire confidence in students, but also to maintain discipline, respect, and a friendly atmosphere within the classroom it is important that the teacher is effective at establishing rapport and at managing the classroom effectively.
