This unit was all about receptive language- reading and listening. This was a short unit that covered how to teach these skills. We use different techniques to read and listen, such as predicting, scanning for specific information, skimming to get a general idea of something, listen/read for detailed information, and to deduce the meaning of something. When teaching ESL students these skills, we should pre-teach important vocabulary, choose texts carefully, and use a variety of topics to cater to all kinds of student interest.
