This unit was a lot to take in. I quickly realized I don't have the best ear for the rise and fall of intonation in a sentence and that I needed to work on developing that consciously. The same goes for stressed and unstressed syllables. The science of phonetics itself is fascinating though and I really enjoyed learning about the different parts of the vocal system and how they work together to create so many distinct phonemes. The phonetic alphabet was momentarily somewhat intimidating but I rather enjoyed decoding the questions toward the end of the unit test once I had a grasp on it.
