I learned a lot from this unit. When I have to teach pronunciation to my students, I usually have them look at my mouth while pronounce words or use lines to direct the intonation of a sentence. I never knew there were so many methods of teaching pronunciation. I'd like to try using nonsense words and humming or singing to help students with intonation since that is what my students currently struggle with the most.I also found it interesting how changing the location of a stress in a sentence could change how it is interpreted. I would like to use an example like this for my students as well. On the other hand, translating phonemic text was additionally an interesting challenge I have never encountered before. I often see phonemic text in dictionaries but never know how to read them. Now, I feel more confident in translating phonemic text into standard script.
