In this unit, I learned the different types of groups an ESL teacher can come across. From beginner students to business, each level and learner has to be looked carefully upon. When dealing with Business English students, there are many factors to consider. It would be wise to know more about their company or field of work, what are the company’s goals in terms of language learned by it’s employees and that there is a wide array of age groups within the company. Whereas teaching children has its own challenges and tactics. It is advised to be more fun, dynamic and ever changing your routine as so they are not bored, disciplinary issues don’t arise and they stay focused and motivated. However, young learners have a knack at picking up many languages and it comes more easily than older learners. Making your lessons more engaging with plenty of activites and games will help these learners succeed and be more motivated to learn. I also felt that it was good to know that you do not need to know Business to teach a Business English class.
