This section proved to be interesting reading for me, as a native English speaker we take these processes for granted. Listening skills are a very important process in learning a new language as intonation, accents and colloquialism come in to play. I certainly agree that learning to read a new language can often be easier that learning to speak a new language. I will need to keep this in mind when working with my students.
