I specialize as a writing teacher for returnee students, so I'm well aware of the difficulties and joys of teaching writing. One of the big considerations is getting the balance right between accuracy and fluency. Hence, we have '10 minute writing time' at the beginning of the class on a topic related to the main lesson theme. This is not marked - the aim is to write as much as possible. For the homework writing I'm much more concerned about accuracy, and check the work, then spend time the following lesson reviewing the mistakes. By following this pattern, I feel I've got the balance about right.
