This unit focuses on teaching productive skills, meaning speaking and writing. Although it says that writing and speaking carry equal importance, it is also pointed out that writing, in the classroom, is usually ignored. I haven't acknowledged that before, but now, in retrospect, find it to be true. In my youth, while i was learning English, most of my teachers paid little to no attention to spelling in class, only focusing on it during exams and essays. Having access to information on how to properly guide students through the learning of the spelling of proper English is a great asset to me, a future teacher.
