Teaching methods and strategies are the main topics of this unit. There are many different methods of teaching and it cannot be generalised to which method is the best. The unit has concluded that teaching approaches together should be able to:
- Allow students to be exposed to as much language as possible
- Allow students to have an appropriate amount of teacher contribution
- Encourage students to discover language for themselves (Page 5; Paragraph 1).
Within this unit, I learnt about the importance of the Engage, Study and Activate (ESA) elements in providing an effective lesson for students. I was able to familiarise myself with new ideas and activities that can be utilised within each stage of an ESA lesson. I was also made aware of how feedback can be delivered appropriately and effectively.
