When asking questions the teacher should say the student's name at the end of the question, and not at the start. Now, after studying this unit, I can see how obvious the reason is, but teachers tend to forget this, and it is something we should always keep in mind.
The teacher has to be well prepared, optimistic, smiling and concentrated only on students and the lesson material, and in the majority of cases, any behaviour or discipline-related problems will not occur. Students can feel when the teacher pays attention to them, when he or she is interested in their work and progress, and they appreciate it.
Ensuring the necessary dynamics is useful not only for students but for teachers as well.
And I have also learned or been reminded that it is not good to explain too much. Students, regardless of their age and English level, prefer simple and concise explanations, as we all do in life generally. Also, teachers are not to focus only on advanced students and this one in particular: do not ask - "Do you understand?'.
