The content of this unit consisted of teaching me how to help students become better at speaking and writing. It taught me that writing is the least developed skill in students, penmenship is quite difficult for those who have a different phonetic system that my own, and spelling is something that is perceived quite often as the indicator of intelligence. In an attempt to help students work against these issues, the unit taught me that there are activities that can be done that will elicit a fun and learning environment. However, I have to recognize that there are standards that have to be used when deciding those activities. One of the biggest standards is figuring out the students' interests. This will help prolong activities and keep the students engaged.
