This unit has taught me that making use of authentic and created materials have their own advantages and disadvantages. Using authentic materials will speak to the intrests of your class and promote confidence when they understand the materials. This unit has also showed me the value of course books in that they provide a tried and tested syllabus as well as good ideas for supplimentry activities. Disadvantages however are that not all course books are specific enough for all types and levels of students and you might not be able to choose the course book so you as teacher can be limited in creativity and specialisation. If you are able, it will be best to use course books as supplimentry learning materials and exploring ways in which the book can help your students better learn and not to rely on the course book solely for teaching.
