TESOL Videos - TESOL TEFL Reviews - Video Testimonial - Roman
Roman is a business communications trainer in Malaysia. Originally from the Philippines, he completed his 120-hour certificate course with ITTT as his first step towards starting a career in English language teaching. In this TEFL review Roman discusses how he found that he learned much more than he expected from the course, including information about classroom management, lesson planning and phonology. Roman also appreciated the great flexibility an online TEFL course provides meaning he was able to study while maintaining an active social life in his spare time.
This is what one of our TEFL graduates feels he has gained from the course, or a part of it, and how he plans to put into action what he has learned.
Receptive skills include reading and listening whereas productive skills are writing and speaking. All are equally important. Reasons for reading and listening are either done for a purpose or for entertainment. Different skills can be employed when reading or listening depending on the reason. Learning a language can be difficult but there are ways to help our students overcome the potential challenges. For example by pre-teaching some vocabulary, selecting topics that would be of interest to the students, generating interest among the students or providing comprehension tasks to aid in learning and understanding.
