How to Pronounce 'THRASONICAL'- English Grammar

In this episode, we cover the pronunciation of the word thrasonical. This word is a synonym for boastful or bragging. It orginates from the fictional character Thraso, who is a soldier in the comedy Eunuchus, a play written by Terence over 2,000 years ago. Due to his bragging nature, Thraso was the inspiration for this word.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.

No matter the teacher and their experience, every class is bound to have its share of problems and roadblock.
Like in the last unit, a teacher should first know their class and what kind of group they are encountering for the cours.
This unit discusses whether a group is a new group of students unfamiliar with each other, or a group of students who have been togethe.
In the first lessons of the course the teacher should evaluate how the class interacts with each other as a way to gauge how well they know each other and how much confidence they hav.
Furthermore, a teacher can engage the class with games and activities to learn more about the students, know their level of comprehension, and build rapport between themselves and the student.
Surveys and questionnaires are other methods to get to know a student's level with Englis.
No matter the demographic, a teacher should welcome the class in a warm and engaging manner so as to entice them and get them comfortable before the lessons begi.
No tired or unenthused student wants to arrive to a class and be bombarded with grammar questions first thin.
Start class with a fun video to start a conversation, or start with a fun game that introduces the lesson materia.
Once the lesson starts students should hopefully be engaged and ready to start the lesson.
Some other issues may be at hand once the lessons star.
Perhaps the class is large and some students are less inclined to speak up when they need help, or some are reluctant to participat.
For students who are struggling, try pairing them with students who show greater strength with the material, and it will help both partie.
Pairing and grouping students will also help students in a larger class get to know each other and feel more comfortable participatin.
Be sure that English is spoken as often as possible, or at least when it is appropriate in accordance to the class or students' leve.
Teachers should always remind the students to use English if they respond to an activity in their native tongue, and should only respond to what they say in Englis.
Obviously a student speaking their native language is not out of insubordination but just a desire to communicate, which should be kept in min.
Listening activities are very important for improving language, despite the troubles many students can have with them, Either way, teachers should find out the root of a student's problem with listening lessons activities are, and be sure to have work for students who are ahead of students falling behin.
