Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.

Unit 19 Unit 19 focuses on teaching different groups of students: beginners, individuals, teaching young learners and teaching business Englis.
The main points in teaching beginners are: to be sensitive to the students needs, avoid over correction, so the students don?t loose interest to the language; encourage them to use English in class and don?t use their mother tongue, use simple language , give clear instructions and introductions ; revise, homework and choral work are very important at this leve.
It?s obvious that while teaching individually the lesson is concentrated on the students? needs and want.
So, before the course teacher should find out the students language problems and build the program according his need.
Many individual students prefer to improve their oral English but the conversation still should be guided, include new vocabulary, grammar points et.
Teaching children requires frequent changes of activities, as young students have a short attention span and get bored easil.
It?s vitally important to use props, objects, pictures, gestures and active games during the lesson to stimulate their curiosity and hold attentio.
Discipline problem is one of the main problems that may arise while teaching childre.
Teacher should try to find the reason of misbehaving and solve it if possibl.
Staying consistent and fair , giving students equal attention , making lessons varied and interesting help to avoid most of the discipline problem.
Teaching business English means teaching the language related to the business areas for telephoning, negotiation, introductions, presentations et.
That?s very useful to get the understanding of the client?s job before starting the course, find out the specific terminology they are dealing with, analyze what they do and don?t know and plan the lessons accordingl.
Questionnaire before and during the course might be helpful as well, as it shows client?s expectations and needs and allows teacher to make corrections in a course program if necessar.
It?s usual that the students of different levels are put together in one group , so teacher?s task is to plan the lesson in a way that the stronger and weaker students be equally involved , strong students don?t get board and weaker ones be able to catch up the pace of the lesso.
