This unit was about understanding the different ways of evaluating students' levels and progress in English language. Followings three different ways can be carried out to assess a student's language level. 1) Tutorials : Evaluation can be done by reviewing the work done, asking students understanding and problems if there is any at the end of the lesson. 2) Evaluation by the students: Students cab be asked to evaluate their lesson through a list of questionnaire that represents the understanding of lesson among students and further it can be discussed for future lessons. Mother language cab be used in this process if the students are too poor in English for this kind of discussion. 3) Tests: Different types of tests are carried out according to different stages in a course from start till end to evaluate the ability and progress of students. #Placement tests helps teachers to recognize the ability of students to choose a right level of class for them. #Progress tests should be taken periodically to gauge what language skills have achieved and what has been missed. Most of teachers may not prefer these kind of tests as they believe students should attain exams naturally not by memorizing them by attaining frequently. #Diagnostic tests are more likely to same as placement test or sometimes more extensive.
