This unit surveys special groups that a teacher may be assigned: beginners, children, individuals, and business people. It also discusses multilingual versus monolingual groups and discusses techniques, strategies, and special considerations for each of these groups as well as advantages, potential problems, and how to address them. I've had opportunities to work with some but not all of these groups and found much of the information in this unit helpful. Most of all, it reinforces for me the principle of fitting the teaching approach to the students and their needs. The sample needs assessment is a tool that could be adapted to groups other than business clients.
