In this Unit, I have learned a lot of useful tips which I can use when I am teaching different groups.
About teaching children, teachers need to spend a lot of time on drawing students’ attention, help them get involved in the class and understand the target language. Besides, teachers need to provide a clearer and slower pronunciation and use English to give instructions. Children are very sensitive to unfairness, so teachers need to be impartial to everyone.
As for teaching English beginners, it requires some special skills and psychology. As beginners only know a little about English, teachers need to grade them and try to use simple words, body language to give instructions. Then teachers can make students work as groups, arrange weak students to cooperate with strong students. They they can help each other. Last but not least, no matter how special the students groups are, teachers need to be positive and patient. And some beginners are not confident, as teachers, we need to encourage them very often.
