In this unit, we looked at modals, phrasal verbs, and passive voice. These are all areas that are more complicated for both teachers and students because they have to do with expressing ideas and concepts. We use modals to express different ideas, like 'must' for obligation or 'can' for ability. There are several different modal verbs we can use in English to further define our thoughts and ideas. Phrasal verbs consist of a verb plus one or two particles. They are very common in spoken English and can be confusing for learners to know when to use them and how to use them in a sentence. We use the passive voice to change the focus on the sentence from the doer of the action to the action itself. This unit reviewed some grammar that is excellent for more advanced students to be able to expand their vocabulary and have more meaningful conversations.
