As always, I have been astounded by the many nuances in the English language--with wordplay as simple as 'if' statements. The Zero, First, Second, Third, and Mixed conditionals somehow have their own different equations and functions. Even when I memorized those equations I still had to stop and think about why they were structured the way they were. Direct speech--actual dialogue--and Reported speech--repetition of that dialogue--were simultaneously easy and difficult concepts to grasp. The explanation of the time hopping, as well as the changing of tenses and shifting of words will be a tough strain on my student's minds. Or at least, on my own when I try to explain it. Practice will make perfect, of course. With the fun games listed (such as coming up with fun consequences or being the middle man between two people) it will make it all the easier.
