The importance of writing and speaking cannot be understated. As my role in the classroom is going to be focused on these productive skills, it was important for me to understand the lesson taught in this chapter. In terms of the difference between accuracy and fluency, the necessity of being able to produce accurate writing/speech preceding the fluent use of said tools was emphasized in this lesson. I had never thought about the importance of this order but this chapter elucidated this fact to me. Using games that effectively engage students in the speaking of the target language is something that I have been thinking about and will develop more in the near future.
