The identification of receptive skill so language, reading and listening, was the topic of this chapter. These are different from speaking and writing as they are methods of absorbing information rather than disseminating information in the target language. Various methods for teach receptive skills were talked about in this chapter. However, the one that I found to be the most helpful was the patchwork lesson for teaching this skill. The importance of varying up topics for lessons paired with this patchwork framework where students are primed in the target language, taught potential problematic vocabulary words, and finally activated in their understanding of the language seems to be the best way to go about teaching this idea.
