when speaking a foreign language, your attitude can be misconstrued when using modal verbs like, "may," "might," "should," etc. It is important to go over these modal verbs so people can accurately convey their intentions. "Let me use you pen" might sound rude compared to, "may I use your pen," for example. The sentence still makes sense, but the tone changes. This unit also discusses in/transitive and in/separable phrasal verbs. I hear many mistakes from English learners that have to do with these rules. Being able to explain these rules is the hard part. And explaining why, "she got the bus at the wrong stop off" does not make sense. An English learner might struggle to see the difference between that and, "she got off the bus at the wrong stop."
