In this unit on Teaching Pronunciation and Phonology, I have learned some of the important and basic ways on introducing this concept to the classroom. Prior to reading this unit, I was very unfamiliar with how the phonetic alphabet worked. In addition to learning about the phonetic alphabet, I learned about its importance with showing students how to correctly pronounce English words and how when introducing this concept to the classroom that it is important to emphasize the sounds that are being made. In addition to this, I also learned the importance of other factors such as intonation, stress, and articulation when it comes to pronunciation. Everything I have learned in this lesson not only shows me how very useful this material would be in terms of giving students more opportunities to sound like a native speaker, but it also showed me how much detail there is when it comes to pronouncing English words.
