This unit shows what materials to use in our lessons. We learn that we can use authentic materials (anything from real life, ex: newspapers, recording etc) or created materials (that we create ourselves). We then learn how to best use a course book, its advantages and disadvantages and how to choose it. There are three parts, the student's book, the work book and the teacher's book. The best is for the teacher to not only use the course book but to implement it with his or her own material. relying too much on the course can lead to very boring lessons. I myself like to choose my own course books but I only use it in about half or the lesson, I then implement the lesson with my own materials.
This chapter provided a lot of very useful matrerials, word searches, flashcards etc.. as well as a website to create your own puzzles which I plan to definitely use.
