Tests are essential for evaluating students and keeping track on their progress. Tests come in multiple forms and at different stages. There are four major tests that learners of English will have to take. Placement tests, which help the teacher determine the levels of the new students. Diagnostic tests, which are taken before the lesson and give an overall idea about the student's current strengths and weaknesses. Progress tests which always include all four skills and are generally required by the schools at different time frames of the year in order to measure the students' progress of what they had learned.
