This unit covered the use of created and authentic materials and textbooks/coursebooks. I feel that I have learned the differences between created and authentic materials and their appropriateness for certain student groups. For example, authentic materials are not graded to level thus teachers need to gauge appropriateness themselves, while created materials can be created with the needs of certain student levels in mind. Also I have learned the advantages and disadvantages of text-/coursebooks. For instance, they provide a certain level of security for both teachers and students but they can be very boring and predictable, not to mention out of date.
