In today’s class we reviewed the four different forms for the past tense: Past Simple, past continuous, past perfect and past perfect continuous. We’ve seen that the structure for all is the aspects is similar to the one for the present tense, but changing the main verb or the auxiliary verb to the past. We can use this tense when talking about past actions occurred in a definite time, for interrupted past actions, for something that gradually developed in the past, for an action that took place in the past and might continue, for past actions that happened before other past actions and for actions that took place in the past and continued to happen until the moment in the past we were talking about. Some of the aspects, like the past simple, might bring some confusion in the usage with the present perfect. Most common activities that can be used for activation stage and practicing of this tense are story telling ones, in which different kinds of past can be used. Once again, it was useful to be able to review how to properly use this tense and which activities are best to practicing it.
