Unit 15 – Evaluation and testing
Unit 15 covers some of the most common types of tests or testing and evaluation methods used to monitor the progress of our students. Starting usually with a placement test before beginning the course. Followed sometimes by a diagnostic exam to gather more information. The use of progress and practice tests through the course. Then depending on the nature of the course and its requirements a final, exit or external exam. There is also the great idea, in my opinion, of having the students test or evaluate the course they are taking, bravo! I will definitely use this idea with my future students.
On a personal note I have always had a love & hate relationship with tests and exams. I love to take practice tests or quizzes. Testing or quizzing your knowledge about a subject is often a lot of fun. However, when I am put in a scenario where I am really being “tested”!!! Well then I cant stand tests and testing. All to often my head goes blank and I cant remember what I studied... its awful.
