This unit on teaching a new language clearly emphasized and focused on what students specifically need to learn in what stage of language learning. Divided into three sections, vocabulary, grammatical structure, and language functions, I learned that as a language teacher, one must follow a specific process so that students can grasp why they are learning a language. I think that the ESA approach is very applicable to this part of language teaching as it assists students in developing their skills in understanding the English language. As teachers, we should be able discern what the students need. We need to determine the factors that affects and would affect students’ learning of a language then target those factors to be able to focus on the student’s needs.
