Here Below you can check out the feedback (for one of our units) of one of the 16.000 students that last year took an online course with ITTT!

In this unit, I learned about the different types of evaluation and testing. There are placement tests, progress tests, diagnostic tests, practice tests, and external evaluations. Each kind of analysis serves a different purpose. The reading states that teachers do not favor tests because they do not prove what students have actually learned and remember but rather what the students have memorized. I can completely understand why teachers would not favor tests. As a previous student myself, I would study right before the test, take the test, and then forget everything right after it finished. Even though I wanted to learn the language, I was failing myself and just studying for the test rather than studying to remember and use. However, with that being said, how can you prove with tangible evidence that students are learning and remembering? It is quite a hard thing to do, and the institution often requires tests so teachers must use them to measure students' progress. Nevertheless, English learners must be prepared to take tests because of the significant external tests that they may want to or have to take to achieve their future goals. Future goals such as attending college in an English speaking country, getting a job in an English speaking environment, moving to an English speaking country, etc. I was able to learn about such tests in the reading. All of the different evaluations are to provide proof of proficiency within their specific purposes. For example, the TOEFL exam is for a non-English speaking student who wishes to study in universities in the US. I believe that EFL/ESL teachers must be prepared to prepare their students for such exams in the future because these tests are challenging but can be incredibly beneficial to their students’ futures.
