This lesson offered valuable insights on how a prospective teacher would go about managing the classroom. There are many things to take into consideration when discussing the management of a class. Some of these things would be considered common sense by anyone who has ever taken a class, but other points offered some insight on how a classroom should be run. The point that stuck with me the most was not to ask a student "Do you understand?", instead asking the student to repeat back the instruction or elaborate in another way the task the teacher is asking them to complete. My first response would have been to ask if the student understood, but as the course had outlined, it is not a helpful question. As I was going through this unit, I found myself visualizing my ideal classroom based on previous classroom experiences and how I could engage with the students in that setup, space permitting, which was an interesting as I had not thought about it prior to this lesson.
